RACE RECAP
Denny Hamlin won the FireKeepers Casino 400 from the hard way around: pole speed on Saturday, rear-of-field reality on Sunday, and a No. 11 Toyota that kept getting better until nobody else had an answer. He led 40 laps total, including the final 39, and beat Erik Jones by 11.110 seconds after Michigan's record caution day finally settled into one long green run.
The result was bigger than one trophy. Hamlin's 63rd career Cup win tied Kyle Busch for ninth on the all-time list, and it came one week after his Nashville win. Toyota swept the podium with Hamlin, Jones and Bubba Wallace, while Kyle Larson and Carson Hocevar completed the top five.
The race had two turning points before Hamlin took control. Tyler Reddick won Stage 1 but was collected in a Lap 83 restart crash that ended his day. Chase Elliott then won Stage 2 and led a race-high 67 laps before contact with Christopher Bell on Lap 148 sent both cars into the wall, brought out a red flag for repairs, and removed two of the strongest cars from the finish.
For FantasyJolt, Hocevar was the correction that mattered after import. NASCAR's live results credited the No. 77 with the official fastest lap; the database now reflects that bonus. Hocevar finished fifth, led 21 laps, scored stage points in both stages, and posted 53.1 base FJ points, the best driver score on the slate.
